Vehicle Maintenance Coordinator and Trainer

SUMMARY

Follows developed plan for the vehicle and wheelchair lift maintenance program for assigned vehicles and ensures that all maintenance is provided according to manufacturer requirements. Selects maintenance facilities and monitors repairs and associated costs. Follows developed plan and maintains a record keeping and reporting system for all vehicle maintenance records. Develops, schedules and provides training of new and existing drivers and performs route monitoring of all drivers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures that vehicle maintenance records are organized and maintained in a manner which readily and clearly documents the completion of all scheduled and unscheduled vehicle related maintenance according to the Transportation Operating Procedure (TOP).

  • Responsible for vehicle records as required by Federal, State and Local agencies/grant requirements. Must be present when any monitoring/auditing is scheduled.

  • Promptly reports any major vehicle maintenance problems or concerns to the Transportation Director.

  • Provides a daily vehicle maintenance report to the NTP Dispatch.

  • Performs minor vehicle repairs as necessary and appropriate.

  • Monitors maintenance expenditures to ensure repairs are provided within budget. Selects maintenance resources based on consultation and coordination with the Transportation Director.

  • Coordinates maintenance services with maintenance repair facilities ensuring that the best possible service center is utilized to obtain repairs and parts

  • Develops schedules and provides on-the-job training to new and existing employees. Ensures proper training is completed on vehicle maintenance requirements, new or updated equipment and procedures.

  • Performs daily pre-trip vehicle inspection and reports vehicle defects according to procedures.

  • Performs the loading, and unloading of wheelchair bound passengers which includes, but is not limited to, pushing, tilting, lifting and supporting the wheelchair during all phases of the operation according to the principles taught by Neighborly Transportation.

  • Completes incident and accident reports according to established policies and procedures.

  • Cleans vehicle interior daily and exterior of vehicle as needed. Refuels vehicles as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Possession of a valid Class C Florida Commercial Driver’s License, with passenger transport endorsement and not more than four (4) current points, as verified by the DMV as a condition of employment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in adult day care environment and regularly works with interruptions.  The employee occasionally works with steam tables.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Depending upon client participation and based on employee to client ratio requirements, employees are required to be able to travel to any Neighborly center to perform their work. Also, during those periods of time when the center (client) census is low, employees may be asked to volunteer to take their PTO or leave without pay. If there are no volunteers, the ADC Director, or his/her designee, has the authority to select an employee to involuntarily take PTO or leave without pay. An ADC policy addresses this in more detail.

Exposure to confused, potentially aggressive and upset participants may occur daily
