For more than 50 years, Neighborly Care Network has endeavored to ensure, maintain and improve the quality of life for thousands of frail older persons throughout Pinellas County through the provision of life sustaining services. These services enable vulnerable older persons to live more independently in an environment of their choosing.
When you make a financial contribution to Neighborly Care Network, you’re helping to continue to provide the valuable services that so many seniors have come to rely on. All financial contributions are tax deductible. Help is also available with planning of wills, estates and other charitable gift options.
Hundreds of dedicated volunteers are vital to our programs, offering significant hours of service that are truly the lifeblood of our organization. While seniors delight in our volunteers’ friendship, goodwill, and kindness, our volunteers rejoice in the immeasurable rewards they discover in the Neighborly volunteer experience.
Having safe and reliable transportation is essential to quality of life. That’s why we go that extra mile for our seniors. Rides are provided to doctor visits, adult day centers, senior dining sites, social events, and other special services. Our drivers receive training to ensure they are competent and capable of handling passengers with special needs, such as those who are visually or hearing impaired, or those who use canes, walkers or wheelchairs. Drivers are also trained in basic CPR in case of emergency. If you or someone you know needs a little help getting from "here to there," give us a call today.
Adult Day Care
Neighborly opened the first Adult Day Care Center in the nation in 1968. Today we serve the senior population throughout Pinellas County Florida. Transportation is provided by the Neighborly transportation department for morning pick-up and afternoon return home.
Our Centers offer a warm, friendly atmosphere along with a professional licensed health care staff. This winning combination means excellent facilities that provide quality day care for individuals with physical and/or memory-related disabilities.
Activity calendars are posted on our website monthly, showing the variety of FUN activities offered. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks are included to help meet participants’ nutritional needs.
Our professional staff members have been screened by state regulatory and licensing agencies. All Adult Day Centers are licensed by the Agency of Health Care Administration.
The Neighborly Day Care Centers provide a place where caregivers know their loved ones are secure during the day, so they are free to pursue careers, run errands, or get some much needed rest.
Research confirms that proper nutrition is essential to our health and wellness throughout our lifespan. Neighborly offers Meals on Wheels and congregate dining via several Senior Cafe sites in Pinellas County.
Meals on Wheels
Seniors who receive daily hot meals are documented to report improvement in mental health, reduction in falls, improvements in self-rated health and less worry about being able to remain in their homes - not in a nursing home. Out volunteers interact with our clients each day and are able to note any concerns voiced by clients and continuing social interaction.
Neighborly currently has several Senior Cafes through the county. Senior’s who engage in congregate meals report less loneliness and an increased feeling of happiness. Our Senior Diners also report an increase in consumption of healthier foods which correlates with a decrease in chronic illness and healthcare costs.
